18% Of Older Adults Report Worsening Mental Health During COVID-19

For adults aged 50 to 80, 18% reported their mental health was worse during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency than before the pandemic. Just 5% said that their mental health was better during COVID-19 than prior to COVID-19. Those reporting worse mental health were more likely to be female, between ages 50 to 64, have higher educational attainment, or worse physical health status.
