22 States Changed Laws Or Policies During The COVID-19 Emergency To Require More Robust Insurance Coverage Of Telemedicine

During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency 22 states changed laws or policies to require more robust insurance coverage of telemedicine. The changes focused on three key areas: coverage of audio-only services, waiving cost sharing for telemedicine services or requiring that cost sharing be no higher than for identical in-person services, and requiring reimbursement parity between telemedicine and in-person services.
