CMS Releases Updated Federal Poverty Level Standards Applied To Medicaid Eligibility Criteria

On January 19, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a proposed rule that updates the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) standards that are applied to Medicaid eligibility criteria. This update corresponds with the annual increase in the U.S. Census Bureau’s current official poverty thresholds by the relevant percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U).
