COVID-19 Pandemic Has Increased Incidence Of Mental Health Problems Worldwide

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the resulting measures to reduce viral spread, negatively affected population mental health worldwide. About 24.0% of people worldwide experienced depression during the onset of COVID-19, from February through July 2020. About 21.3% experienced anxiety during COVID-19 onset. Mitigation measures for COVID-19 have included stay-at-home or shelter-in-place orders, international travel constraints, closure of schools and workplaces, movement limitations, and masking efforts.
