Deaths Associated With Alcohol, Drugs & Suicide Rose 20% In 2020
In the United States during 2020, there were 186,763 deaths due to alcohol, drugs, and suicide, representing a 20% increase over the previous year. The number of drug-induced deaths increased by 30% to 96,096 total. The number of alcohol-induced deaths increased by 27% to 49,061. However, there was a 3% decrease in overall suicide deaths (45,979 total).
