Depression & Poor Mental Health Linked To Higher Heart Disease Risks Among Young Adults
During 2017 through 2020, depression and poor mental health were associated with premature cardiovascular disease and sub-optimal cardiovascular health among adults ages 18 to 49 years. Among this adult population, about 19.6% had depression and 2.5% had cardiovascular disease during these years. Those with depression were twice as likely to have cardiovascular disease as those without depression.
