Eight Effective Strategies Identified For Improving Workplace Mental Health

Eight strategies have the potential for improving workplace mental health and reduce absenteeism and presenteeism, which refers to the productivity lost when workers are at work, but are physically ill or distracted by personal problems. The eight strategies include health screening, dietary interventions, mindfulness training, non-stress-specific health classes, exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), stress management training, and flexible scheduling. Establishing workplace problem-solving processes and providing non-stress-specific health classes can also help to lower absenteeism and presenteeism.
