Virtual Event – Management of Major Depressive Disorder: Breaking Through the Barriers
In this presentation, the objectives are to:
- To understand that Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a serious illness leading to decreased overall patient health and quality of life
- To investigate the effect of inadequate treatment response in MDD on patients and their families
- To recognize predictors of and important considerations for inadequate treatment response in MDD, including the new DSM-5 specifier for anxious distress
- To consider the importance of proactive treatment decisions

David Purselle, MD
Board-certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience, Director of Georgia Psychiatric Consultants and an adjunct faculty member at Morehouse School of Medicine
MoreDr. David Purselle is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience working in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient units at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Emory University Hospital, and Grady Hospital. Currently, he is the Director of Georgia Psychiatric Consultants and an adjunct faculty member at Morehouse School of Medicine. He is also involved with several clinical research studies studying the effectiveness of various antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and lithium. Dr. Purselle has been recognized as a physician leader in several forums and presented continuing medical education programs at national and local conferences. He has also served as a consultant for major pharmaceutical corporations providing guidance on development of new therapies for a variety of mental illnesses.
