Half Of U.S. Soldier Suicides Among Those Identified As Highest Risk
Between 2004 and 2009, 53% of post-hospitalization suicides committed by United States Army soldiers were among the five percent of soldiers who had been identified with the highest risk of suicide. During that time period, 53,769 soldiers were hospitalized under psychiatric diagnoses; during the 12 months post-discharge, 68 completed suicide.
