Kansas Establishes Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics

On May 3, 2021, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed legislation, Senate Substitute for House Bill 2208, to establish the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) as a new model for providing behavioral health services. The Kansas Department for Disability and Aging Services (KDADS) anticipates that all 26 licensed CMHCs will transition to become CCBHCs over the next three years. Currently, six Kansas community mental health centers (CMHCs) are in the process of implementing the CCBHC model.
