National ‘988’ Lifeline For Mental Health Crisis Goes Live In July 2022
On July 16 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (Lifeline) “988” dialing code will take effect to support suicide and mental health crisis. “988” is linked to the current suicide prevention telephone number of 1-800-283-TALK (8255). The goal of the “988” Lifeline is to improve access to vital crisis services, extend the national reach of suicide prevention efforts, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and getting help.
