Over 40% Of Military Veterans Experienced Psychological Improvement During The Pandemic

During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency, about 43.3% of U.S. veterans experienced positive psychological changes or post-traumatic growth (PTG) related to the COVID-19 emergency by the end of 2020. The most prevalent PTG gains were in the following domains: appreciation of life, relating to others, and personal strength. Greater COVID-19-associated improvements in appreciation of life and social relationships were associated with a significant reduction in the odds of suicidal ideation.
