Peer Supports? There’s An App For That
A few new developments around peer supports have caught everyone’s attention. Not surprisingly, the pandemic has changed the role and the work of peer support specialists—and like all of health care, even peer support services are going virtual.
Like many Americans, peer support specialists took an economic hit during the pandemic, with 8.5% reporting having lost a job/being laid off due to COVID-19 and 13.4% taking a pay cut. And they reported feeling isolated (73%) and experiencing communication challenges (69.7%).
