People Diagnosed With A Mental Disorder On Average Work 10.5 Years Less Compared With The General Population
Individuals who are diagnosed with a mental disorder lose an additional 10.5 years of working life compared with the general population. According to the study of workers in Denmark, most of this difference was due to receiving a disability pension, which accounted for about 7.5 years of lost work. The next most common cause of lost work was longer periods of unemployment, which accounted for about 2.2 years of lost work.
