People With MS & Depression More Likely To Die Over A 10-Year Period Than People With Neither Condition

People with multiple sclerosis (MS) and depression are more likely to die over a 10-year period than those with neither condition. As compared with controls without depression, the 10-year hazard of all-cause mortality was 5.4-fold greater in people with MS and depression. Those with MS but not depression saw a 3.9-fold greater 10-year hazard of all-cause mortality than those without MS and depression.

Among those with neither MS nor depression, the all-cause mortality rate was 2.53 deaths per 100,000 person years. …
