Psychiatric Advance Directive – Part 4: The Logistic “Nuts-And-Bolts”

This is an on-demand web interview (video) of a four-part series on Psychiatric Advance Directives (PAD) discussing logistics of putting together this document. Audience members are strongly encouraged to review Part 1-Introduction to PAD to gain an understanding of the value of a PAD in mental healthcare during a crisis. In this part our esteemed guest and expert, Dr. Leon Ravin will:

Dr. Leon Ravin, MD

A Psychiatrist and Statewide Psychiatric Medical Director for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, State of Nevada. He is an expert in general adult and forensic psychiatry and serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine. Dr. Ravin serves on the Executive Committee of the Medical Directors Council of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, on the LAI work group for SMI Adviser, an APA and SAMHSA initiative, and on the Conference Committee for the National Psychopharmacology Update, the largest psychopharmacology conference in the United States. Dr. Ravin’s interests include delivery of psychiatric care, mental health laws, and medical ethics. He is one of the lead trainers for the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Of relevance to this topic, Dr. Ravin is an advocate of Psychiatric Advance Directives, and has presented several talks on this topic to state legislators and to the psychiatric community.
