PsychU Supporters: An Interview With Pro Caregiver Consultants

We invite you to listen to our interview with Kathy Day, BA, MPA, Founder and Board Member of Pro Caregiver Consultants, a non-profit organization providing hope and training to caregivers of adults with brain disorders. Ms. Day shares a brief overview of Pro Caregiver Consultants functions and values along with highlighting services that they provide.

Pro Caregiver Consultants provide much-needed guidance to caregivers of adults with psychiatric brain illnesses. As caregivers themselves, they know how hard it is to find help and tools to assist our family members who have illnesses like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. Their goal is to help you help your loved one.

Kathy Day has been the sole caregiver for her adult family member (FM) who suffers from severe schizophrenia. During their journey, Kathy was keenly aware of the lack of guidance for family caregivers. Since her FM is an adult, providers are not required to include Kathy in any of the treatment plans. This was difficult, as Kathy was the one who was responsible for ensuring her FM took his meds, had a roof over his head, and participated in treatment. He was too ill to be able to manage all this on his own. It has long been Kathy’s desire to start a non-profit to help caregivers receive the assistance she wishes she’d had.
