A recent study showed that patients would decline offers from care managers to arrange for a visiting nurse or home health aide to assist them, preferring instead that their caregiver perform personal care or home medical care tasks, a preference noted as a matter of personal comfort, dignity, or to avoid having strangers in their home. However, without those additional supports, caregivers often felt poorly prepared & with inadequate resources to manage the patient safely alone.
