U.S. Economic Burden For PTSD Tops $230 Billion
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) costs in the United States for civilian and military populations are estimated at $232.2 billion for 2018. Of that estimated cost, $76.1 billion was for direct health care services to treat PTSD, representing 32.8% of the total estimated cost. The remaining costs were predominantly due to unemployment, productivity loss, caregiver burden, and disability.
