Live Event – Mental Health Wellness: Addressing Health Care Professional Burnout During Uncertain Times
This is a Live Event for PsychU members in Bradford County PA, Tioga County PA, Chemung County NY, Broome County NY, and Steuben County NY.
The COVID-19 pandemic has exerted substantial effects on mental health. The speaker will discuss the dynamics of mental health and the potential impacts of a pandemic or other extreme stressors that may result in healthcare professional burnout. Speakers will also explore a stress continuum model, sources of stress, and highlight strategies for health care professionals to establish and maintain wellness, build resilience, and engage in healthy self-care.

MoreDr. Bennett Doughty grew up in Winthrop, Maine, and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 2016. Following graduation, Doughty completed two years of residency training at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT specializing in psychiatric pharmacy. He is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and a Board-Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP). Dr. Doughty joined the Binghamton School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018 as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He also serves as a clinical psychiatric pharmacy specialist at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, where he has created an integrated outpatient psychiatric clinic within primary care. Dr. Doughty is the program director of the Binghamton University Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (BU OOPP), the director of Binghamton University’s and SUNY Upstate Medical University’s Rural and Underserved Service Track (TRUST), and a Community-Engaged Teaching Fellow, recognized by the Binghamton University Center for Civic Engagement. Dr. Doughty’s research interests primarily focus on the engagement of patients in substance use disorder treatment but also have expanded to include focus on interprofessional care in underserved communities.Sara A. PsychU is supported by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Developmental & Commercialization Inc., Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc., and Lundbeck, L.L.C., committed supporters of the mental health treatment community; as such, PsychU is governed in accordance with the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals attendance at educational programs.
PSYCHU MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
In accordance with the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, attendance at PsychU educational programs is limited to appropriate attendees (e.g., physician, clinical professional, current medical school student, care manager, advocate, recovery coach or an executive and manager of an organization) whose primary role is to provide, manage, finance, study, or regulate mental health services for adult patients. NOTE: Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization Inc. (OPDC) reserves the right to decline membership to individuals who OPDC determines do not meet the certification requirements.
MEMBERSHIP & REGISTRATION
Membership is required to attend PsychU programs. Membership is free to all relevant mental health professionals as described above. If you are not currently a member of PsychU, you will need to become a member before you can register to attend an event. Registration for PsychU Live Events will be closed 2 business days prior to the date of the event. No walk-ins will be permitted to attend PsychU Live Events. ATTENDANCE LIMITATIONS
PsychU declines attendance after a healthcare professional has attended a pre-determined number of programs, has attended multiple programs on the same topic or is outside the appropriate specialty for PsychU programs, to avoid any appearance of impropriety between OPDC and the healthcare professional. This measure protects the healthcare professional as well as OPDC.
