A Caregiver’s Guide: Identifying & Managing Agitation in Alzheimer’s Dementia
Agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia can be challenging to identify and navigate as a caregiver. This guidebook is designed to help caregivers understand and manage these difficult moments. As caregivers, you’re likely the first to encounter or observe signs of agitation, and health care providers often rely on your reports to understand and recognize these behaviors. By learning how to create a calm environment, recognize possible triggers, and steps to manage self-care as a caregiver, you can support and comfort those with agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia while taking care of yourself. The goal is to recognize symptoms of agitation early so that it can lead to an earlier diagnosis and timely management by health care providers.
