Exploring Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: Pathophysiology

Although there may be many etiologies, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a dynamic disorder that involves fluctuations between contrasting forms of emotional dysregulation.1 This webinar will provide a high-level overview of the pathophysiology of PTSD, including discussion of the potential role of monoamine neurotransmitter systems involved in emotional regulation and fear response in the amygdala.

Steven Stoner, PharmD, BCPP, is Board Certified in Psychiatric Pharmacy. He is the associate dean of Student Affairs and a Clinical Professor at the UMKC School of Pharmacy. He received his PharmD from the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy. Dr. Stoner completed a postdoctoral residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice and administration and a fellowship at Western Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
