Arwen Podesta, MD, is a New Orleans–based board-certified adult psychiatrist with sub-specializations in addiction medicine, forensic psychiatry, and integrative medicine. After Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Podesta became involved in actioning psychiatric care for underserved and disenfranchised populations and was awarded the Gambit’s 40 Under 40 in 2009. Since then, she has worked in the public sector as Medical Director of multiple addiction treatment centers and as a consultant for the Orleans Criminal Court, Drug Court, and Re-entry Services. Additionally, she serves as a consulting Addiction Medicine Specialist. Dr. Podesta’s primary focus is access to integrative mental health and addiction treatment as well as rational prescribing practices. She is President of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association and serves on the Opioid Abatement Task Force for the State of Louisiana. She is a distinguished fellow of both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. A renowned speaker, Dr Podesta regularly travels to teach and speak on the topics of addiction medicine and integrative psychiatry.

Timothy Aungst, PharmD, is a professor of pharmacy practice and clinical pharmacist. He is clinically trained in ambulatory care, with a focus on cardiology and cardiometabolic conditions, alongside geriatric care. For the past decade, Timothy has focused upon the role of technology within clinical care. This has included the evaluation of mobile medical applications and constructing frameworks to identify clinically relevant mobile health tools. This has included evaluating over 2000+ mobile apps and related digital health products and has served as a mentor and judge for the MIT hacking medicine program and other innovative groups. By combining his clinical knowledge with his digital health knowledge, he has become a leading subject matter expert on integrating smart medications, digital therapeutics, digital medicines, and remote patient monitoring, and digitalizing patient care. He has served in multiple digital health advisory roles related to clinical decision-making and payor coverage. He is a current advisor for the Digital Therapeutics Alliance and aids the Digital Medicine Society. Lastly, bridging his experience as an educator, he is leading committees within the American Pharmacist Association and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy to create standards of digital health care for current and future learners and the creation of certificates and training modules to get the pharmacy profession ready for the era of digital health care.
