Virtual Event – Proposed Roles Of Modulating Norepinephrine In Psychiatric Illnesses
A Virtual Event for PsychU members in ID, LA, MS, NV, WY, and the San Diego and Inland Empire counties of CA.
Dr. Sucharita Somkuwar and Dr. Hasib Bhojwani will examine the relationship between norepinephrine and psychiatric illnesses. The learning objectives are as follows:
1) Investigate an overlap between monoaminergic pathways and circuitry, and norepinephrine preferentially binding to specific alpha receptors that modulate dopamine and serotonin.
2) Demonstrate how malfunctioning cortical circuits can influence emotions, arousal, and cognition.
3) Discuss norepinephrine as an emerging as a potential therapeutic target for psychiatric illnesses, like Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, amongst other disorders.
