Dwayne Mayes and Kathy Day, Patient & Caregiver Section Advisors, sit down with Dennis Sholler from the field medical affairs team to discuss financial wellness, one of the eight dimensions of wellness. Dwayne defines financial wellness and discusses strategies to improve wellness in daily life. Kathy discusses how financial wellness impacts the other dimensions of wellness. Dwayne outlines the consequences of financial stress – especially for patients suffering from serious mental illness – and Kathy discusses the impact of this on caregivers. Finally, both Dwayne and Kathy share resources to improve financial wellness.

Kathy Day, MPA, currently serves as a caregiver and advocate for a close family member who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2010. She also helps to manage online support groups for families coping with mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression. Ms. Day received her MPA from Brandman University.
