Indiana To Implement Long-Term Care Reforms

Under new legislation signed May 1, 2023, starting July 1, 2023, Indiana will begin implementing a series of reforms to the state’s long-term care system. The legislation, House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1461, addresses several workforce challenges and current regulatory challenges, including long-term care administrator licensure requirements, predatory business practices of health care-focused temporary staffing agencies, the pace of Medicaid functional level of need determinations, and barriers to long-term care for rural residents.
