Minnesota HealthPartners To Revise Processes & Pay Fine For Mental Health Parity Violations

On May 4, 2023, the Minnesota Department of Commerce announced a consent order with HealthPartners that requires the company to revise its processes to ensure that coverage for behavioral health services is at parity to coverage for medical or surgical care. The state fined the company $150,000 for parity violations discovered during a market conduct exam. The state will monitor HealthPartners’ adherence to the new procedures for at least a year.
